Child Dies at Summer Camp
CHILD DIES AT SUMMER CAMP DURING SEVERE STORM
As a severe storm swept through Maryland yesterday evening, children attending a summer camp at River Valley Ranch in Carroll County were struck by a falling tree. 7 children were sent to hospital where one later died.
Our hearts go out to the children, families and staff who were impacted by this tragedy.
Unfortunately we have seen this type of tragedy happen before, which is why we decided earlier this year to develop an emergency preparedness guide to assist summer and day camps with emergency planning. Emergency preparedness is vital to ensuring the safety of your campers.
Does your camp have an Emergency Plan in place?
Are staffed trained to respond effectively in an emergency?
Do you need some assistance and direction with your emergency preparedness planning?
Protection from Chaos & Mayhem - An emergency preparedness guide for summer and day camps will be published this summer.
Copies of the book, along with webinars and on-site training, are available when you support the book now through our Kickstarter campaign.
We hope that you are having a safe and fun summer!
