"Orillia is likely to require a third fire station if the city grows as projected, councillors heard recently.“The population is growing,” said Darryl Culley, president of Emergency Management and Training Inc., the consulting firm behind a newly developed 10-year fire protection services master plan. “They are anticipating 36 per cent by 2031, that’s the city’s forecast.”Growth is anticipated in both west Orillia and the historic downtown core, where work is underway to encourage a larger residential component through intensification.
